Kellie pickler
While she didn't go home with "American Idol" the title, Kellie Pickler was one among the show's most successful alumni. Her birth name was Kellie Dawn Pickler, on the 28th of June 1986 in Stanly Memorial Hospital in Albemarle to Cynthia Morton and Clyde Raymond Pickler. At the time of her pregnancy her mother was already at the age of 16. Her childhood was hard for her as her father was addicted to drugs and alcohol, even though her mother had divorced from her aged only 2. Morton kept custody of Pickler for a period of two years, but Pickler stated that the situation was bad. "I can remember when my mom and I were at the kitchen table and I said'I'd love God could take me away, I'd much rather be dead than live here with you.' She took the kitchen knife out and placed it in the middle of the counter. She then said: "Here you go." I was in the fourth grade. She told me "Of Of course, I'd never do anything about it. But it has been a long time since I've had emotional scars." Pickler was given her grandparents by the court after she turned 12 years old. Morton failed to appear at the hearing. Pickler was raised with her mother and grandmother throughout her life. She cites them as being the most influential people throughout her life. Grandmother Faye Pickler died from lung cancer in January 2002 and she was continued in the care of her grandfather. Pickler was a graduate of N Stanly High School, located situated in New London, North Carolina.
