Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was employed as a reporter by KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years later as an general reporter. Beginning in 1981, she began covering the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. Mitchell was named the chief White House correspondent by NBC News in the year 1992. Mitchell is a regular in the TV news program Meet the Press as a host and panelist. Mitchell was a panelist at the 1988 debates between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in journalism. In 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contribution to defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering for the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy issues, such as the arms control, the budget tax and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended various summits while in the company of the President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
